Creating a 'big boy' room for my son
61
When we found out that we were expecting baby #2 we were overjoyed! One of my first thoughts was that we needed to get my son out of the crib and into a 'big boy' room before the baby came.
My dad sells John Deere tractors, so Jack (my son) is OBSESSED with them! He wants John Deere everything, so coming up with a theme for his room was quite simple...John Deere! I knew what I wanted for a theme but wasn't quite sure where to find all the decorations for his room. I was searching the web and came across this website. It has everything I wanted for his room and more!
To create the perfect room, I first had to paint it. I started with the ceiling. I used a flat white paint and took it down about a foot and a half onto the top of the wall as well. Then I painted the remainder of the walls yellow. I then took a level and a pencil and marked a horizontal line all the way around on all 4 walls to mark where I wanted the green stripe. I repeated this process about a foot below the first line I had marked. Once that was done I took the blue painters tape and lined it up to the pencil marks I had made so that I could paint a nice clean green stripe...and WHALA! The painting was finished.
Time to accessorize! I bought the black comforter, curtains and lamp from Target. The sheets, fleece blanket, tractor tire pillows, decals, night light and light switch cover all came from the web site listed above.
Every time we have company, Jack insists that they come and see his room. It makes a momma proud! :)

Love the room! They used to have a John Deere store near where I live, unbelievable all of the cute stuff they have.
Very cool! I work at a daycare with a lot of kids who would be jealous of this room. Good work!
